Loaded yarns and backings

Yarn spindles are loaded into racks,
set, like soldiers behind the tufter.
Each strand of yarn is pulled, by vacuums, through a hollow conduit and guided to the point of the puncher.

Also on the front end of the tufter is where backing materials are loaded. Using tension pressure, the fabrics are tightly pulled through the tufter. Single and multiple layers of fabrics can be set up for the run which will tuft materials at up to 35 miles per hour.

•Yarns are selected and spools are set up on the looming equipment

• Primary and secondary backing materials are loaded per specification

• The loom is set for specified stitch count, tuft gauge and calibrated

• Backing materials meet inside the loom and flow over several rollers which hold them tightly together.

Large needles, threaded with the yarn, punch into the backing and pull out leaving a locked, single stitch which is then cut before the next line of stitches is punched.

• Turf then moves into a lit inspection station where the turf run is inspected for lost stitches, loose fibers, etc.

• As the finished turf passes out of the inspection station,
it is fed into a tension bar and rolled onto a sturdy cardboard core

• The turf is then tagged, numbered and packaged for shipment to the coater

• Once coating and any perforation is completed, the finished turf is returned to the tufter and packaged for shipment from the mill to the installer.
