There are several fiber texturizing processes, all will result in the straight yarns being set into either a curly or crimped shape. The new shape helps to add mass and bulk to the finished turf surfaces.

The first generation of artificial turf used texturized yarns and did not require infill materials. The latest styles incorporate the use of texturized fibers along with straight fibers to increase fiber bulk, surface resiliency and decrease the need for infill materials*.

Knit de Knit or KdK is a yarn texturizing process that will take straight fibers and knit them into the shape of a sock.

After the knitting is complete, the fibers are exposed to extreme air pressure or heat, unravelled and wound onto the spools that will be used at the tufting mills.
