	Synthetic turf can be installed over virtually any surface. The installation above has been completed over asphalt, a concrete walkway and native soils. All of the original surfaces were left in place and compactable aggregate was used over the remaining soil areas, feathered into the hard surfaces and compacted to set the final grade at the level of the concrete and asphalt making the different surfaces blend seamlessly under the final turf. Note the edges hand trimmed to fit the asphalt driveway edge.


This unique flagstone patio was set with flagstone years before. The flagstone is over 3 and 4 inches thick and needed to remain in the same locations (per the designer and customer). To achieve this goal, the existing materials were excavated out between each rock to a depth of 4 inches and then replaced with fresh, imported decomposed granite fines. After compacting this material, turf was installed and hand-trimmed between each stone. Another, less costly method would be to use thinner stones and set them on top of the turf product, working the yarn fibers out from beneath the stones prior to infilling. The reinvestment of new flagstones made this method cost prohibitive for this project.
