Artificial Turf Recycling – Carpet Recovery Effort (C.A.R.E.)

Many people ask if artificial turf and synthetic grass can be recycled – and yes, it can and it is, today.

The surface fibers are often cut away from the material’s backing and recycled into new low density fiber yarns. The backings, because most recycled materials are older technology, cannot be recycled and are often burned as low-grade fuel for concrete or smelting plants that harness the energy to produce their goods.
