Artificial turf gains a foothold with environment, economics

City councillors like cost, benefits, practicality of it

EDMONTON – Some city councillors are so happy with the artificial turf at Clarke football stadium they want to see it installed at more fields.

Members of the community services committee were told Monday the cost of running the Clarke field has been reduced about 40 per cent since artificial turf was approved there in 2005.
